Nick Bennett, Intermin CEO, RGFI

Nick is an experienced Group Procurement and Supply Chain Director with a demonstrated history of delivering global functional improvement and significant value in the food & beverages industry. Nick has an MBA and BSc degrees as well as Diploma in Business Innovation and Sustainability.

Nick has been implementing Sustainability into Procurement and Supply chain management since 2002. In this time he developed new responsible sourcing / Sustainability policies, aligned strategies, took practical steps for execution programmes in large and small businesses.

He has been involved with RGFI since 2019 supporting the presentation of the Integrated Business Case for Biomethane to government and in member development through 2020.

Nick trained in Mechanical Engineering before moving into Production management in the packaging industry. With his MBA he moved in consultancy with Booz Allen & Hamilton specialising in Operations improvement, Supply Chain and Procurement.

He moved to Ireland in 2004 and led Group Procurement for Glanbia PLC through to 2018 when he set up his own Procurement & Sustainability consultancy, Supply Advantage.

The procurement practices he introduced into Diageo and Glanbia PLCs included sustainability issue assessment, analysing global supply risk profiles, optimising energy efficiency (saving considerable sums in electricity, heat and fuel usage), supplier engagement / measurement, team training and on-boarding.

More recently he has worked with >12 small businesses in Ireland to build their understanding of sustainability, scope 1-3 risks and carbon footprint calculations moving to strategy development, internal launch plans and investigating supply chain impacts. Developed detailed sustainability action plans and supported subsequent implementation programmes.

He also mentors clients in SME businesses for supply chain improvement and starting their Sustainability journey.

Nick lives in Kilkenny and has two grown children.
